Olomouc
Olomouc became a „Royal City“ in 1253. It was the second largest city after Prague from 1187 to 1641, as well as the capital of Moravia. In 1063, it already became the residence of the bishop, the first archbishop being installed in 1777. The Cathedral of St. Wenceslas has origins dating back to 1109, but it was rebuilt in Gothic Revival Style during 1883 - 1890. In 1306, the last Bohemian king of the Pemyslides dynasty, Wenceslas III, was assassinated here. Places of interest include the Pemyslides palace, as well as the sculpture of the Holy Trinity, the Town Hall with its Astronomical Clock, Hradisko (the largest Premonstratesian monastery in Europe), the fortified church of St. Moric, the University of F. Palack and „Svat Kopeek“ („The Pilgrimage Sacred Hill“) on which a Baroque Cathedral is built.
Olomouc yearly holds the international flower exhibition „FLORA OLOMOUC“ - April-May, August, October.
