Teplice v echch
The Spa Teplice rangs among the oldest spa towns of Europe. Although we can not know when the springs were first used for curative purposes, we can say that Teplice was used for its springs as far back as the Middle Ages. It became well known in the middle of the 16th century when the lawyer from Prague Mr. Volf of Vesovice erected a building with separate pools for men and women, changing rooms and accommodation next to the springs. At the end of the 18th century there were 15curative springs in Teplice, with 6 more outside of the town, along with nearby spa in anov.
The charm of the Spa attracted many visitors from the aristocracy of that time, such as Austrian Emperor, Francis Ferdinand I, the Prussian king Frederic William III and the Russian Csar Alexander Nicolas I. Later on guests as J.W. Goethe, L. van Bethowen, R. Wagner or F. Chopin visited the spa.
