J�chymov Spa is located in a forested area at the bottom of the Ore Mountains, under their highest peak - Kl�novec 1,244 m. Thanks to enormous deposits of silver it became a royal town with the privilege to make their own coins. Pierre and Marie Curie, the Nobel Prize winners, stood at the cradle of J�chymov. At the turn of this century, abundant radioactive springs were discovered in the old silver mines and their therapeutic effects gave rise to the foundation of the first radioactive spa in the world. All the above-mentioned special types of radiation therapy are directed and checked by an expert radiologist. The quantity absorbed during a 3-week treatment is estimated to reach 22mRem, which is corresponding with a load the organism is exposed to when being 50% X-rayed in the simplest way.
