Beer has been brewed in Pilsen since the town has been founded in 1295. But the real Pilsner, as the world knows it, is connected with the name of the Prazdroj brewery (Pilsner Urquell), built in 1842. Since that time brewers all over the world have been trying in vain to imitate this beer. The world famous beers produced in this West Bohemian town - Prazdroj (Pilsner Urquell) and Gambrinus - are real treasures of our country. You can visit the brewery complex that includes the Prazdroj brewery itself, the ancient cellars, the Brewery Museum (the oldest one in the world) and the well-known beerhouse „Na spilce" that is the largest restaurant in our country of its kind. You may find an excellent menu with specialities going with beer there, as well as meals of old Czech and international cuisines. Furthermore, souvenirs with beer themes and bottled beer in gift packagings are in sale there.
