Brno
This is the second largest city in the Czech Republic.
Its Trade Fair grounds are the main centre for trade fairs and exhibitions in the Czech Republic. Often 10 - 15 fairs (for example, the International Engineering Fair, International Travel Fair, International Fair of Finance, Investments and Banking Fair, International Wine Brewing and Malting Fair, International Fair of Consumer Electronics) take place there annually. The Czech Republic’s motorcycle Grand Prix is also held here every year at the recently-built race track - the Masaryk circle. Visitors can admire unique sites of historic interest: the Baroque pilberk fortress with its famous vaulted chambers built in the time of the Habsburg Monarchy, the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul on Petrov Hill, the Capuchine Monastery and for eminent specialists Villa Tugendhat (a world-famous example of modern architecture built in 1929-30 by L. Miese van der Rohe) and the Old and New Town Halls.
