Moravsk Kras
This is one of the best-known karst regions in Central Europe. It is created from Devonian limestone and its area of 100 sq.km is covered by both surface and underground karst phenomena. More than 1.000 caves have been discovered so far, four of them opened to the public: the Punkva Caves with boat cruises on the underground Punkva River and a visit to the bottom of the Macocha Abyss, the Catherine Cave with its unique stalagmites, the Balcarka Cave with its numerous coloured stalactites and stalagmites and the Sloupsko-ovk Caves - a labyrinth of large passages and underground abysses.
